Genuine Sunbrella fabric

The fabric is the part you see and the part that takes the sun. We use genuine Sunbrella solution-dyed acrylic. The color goes all the way through the fiber, so it resists fading, mildew, and UV damage, and it cleans up easily. It comes in hundreds of colors and patterns. Be careful with quotes that look cheap. Some companies use look-alike fabric that can fade or break down in just a few years. Ask what fabric you are actually getting.

Motorized operation

The Alutech SunShield is motorized. You run it from a remote or a wall switch, and a manual override is built in so it still works during a power outage. The motor carries a 5-year warranty. Motorized is what most homeowners choose because it is easy to use day to day and it works with sensors.

Sun and wind sensors

Optional sun and wind sensors extend or retract the awning on their own. A wind sensor is the one we recommend most in Maryland. It automatically retracts the awning when the wind picks up, which protects it during a sudden storm even when you are not home.

LED-lit arms

Recessed LED lighting inside the arms lets you use the space after dark. It is a clean, built-in look with no extra fixtures hanging off your house.

Semi-cassette hood

When the awning rolls up, a semi-cassette hood covers and protects the fabric and arms. That keeps the fabric cleaner and helps it last, especially through the off-season.

Sizes and colors

The SunShield comes in widths from 8 ft up to 19 ft 6 in, with projections from 8 ft to 12 ft, so it fits everything from a small patio to a wide deck. Frame colors include White, Cream, Bronze, and Beige to match your home.

Caring for your awning

Sunbrella is low maintenance. Brush off loose dirt, rinse with water, and let it air dry. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and water, not bleach. Retract the awning in heavy wind, ice, and snow, and many homeowners retract it for the winter to extend its life.
