    About Our Pergolas

Shade that works in Maryland weather

Most pergolas get built for a catalog photo, not for a Maryland summer. We design around the things that actually decide whether you use the space: where the afternoon sun lands, how the rain runs off, whether you want the roof open in June and sealed in August.

We build in aluminum and in wood. Louvered aluminum systems give you adjustable shade and, on the motorized versions, a gapless seal against rain. Classic wood pergolas give you the warmer, more traditional look that suits a lot of Maryland homes. We will tell you which one fits your space and your budget, including when the cheaper option is the right call.

Thirty years of outdoor living work sits behind every build, and our own crews do the installation. No subcontracted middlemen.

    • Motorized and fixed louvered aluminum pergolas
    • Retractable fabric roofs that open to the sky
    • Solid insulated roofs for full rain coverage
    • Custom wood pergolas built on site
    • Integrated LED lighting, screens, heaters, and fans

    Permits Handled

We know the Harford, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Howard County permit offices and handle the filing as part of the job.

    Custom-Built to Fit

Every structure is sized, configured, and finished for your specific space, not pulled off a shelf.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Common questions, clear answers

Do I need a permit to build a pergola in Maryland?
Usually yes, though it depends on size, whether the structure is attached to the house, and your county. Harford, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Howard all have their own thresholds and setback rules. We handle permit filing as part of the project, so you are not the one calling the county.
How much does a custom pergola cost in Maryland?
It depends on size, material, and whether you want motorized louvers. Wood pergolas start lower than aluminum louvered systems. We give to-the-penny proposals before any work starts, so the number you see is the number you pay.
Wood or aluminum, which should I choose?
Wood costs less up front and suits traditional homes, but it needs periodic maintenance. Aluminum louvered systems cost more and give you adjustable shade, rain protection, and effectively no maintenance. If you want to use the space in a downpour, aluminum with motorized louvers is the only one that gets you there.
What is the difference between a pergola and a patio cover?
A pergola has an open or adjustable roof and is about controlling light. A patio cover has a solid roof and is about full protection. We build both, and the right answer usually comes down to whether you want sun in the space at all.
Can you add lighting, screens, or heaters?
Yes, and they are integrated into the structure rather than bolted on afterward. LED lighting, motorized screens, radiant heaters, and fans are all available on the aluminum systems.
How long does a pergola take to build?
Aluminum systems are manufactured to order, so lead time drives the schedule more than installation does. Wood builds on site. We give you a real timeline at proposal, not a guess.
Who builds pergolas in Harford County?
We do, and it is our home base. Our office is in Fallston and we have built outdoor living spaces for hundreds of Harford County homeowners.
Do you build pergolas in Anne Arundel and Howard County?
Yes. We work throughout Anne Arundel including Severna Park, Crofton, and the Annapolis waterfront, where we handle Critical Area requirements, and throughout Howard County including Columbia and Ellicott City.
